You should know that I risked my life for the sake of you blog-readers today . . . this shot led to a charging hippo and to a nearby shout to me of "Just run!!!" I then sheepishly apologized to folks here for ignorance as to the speed capacities of these lumbering creatures, and for causing some quickened heartbeats :-)

Holy crap! Anna! Don't you know that hippos kill more people in Africa than all the other predators combined? I'm glad you're okay (i.e. not maimed by a hippo) and thank you for such a beautiful scene. The picture rocks!Jack will love it!

My fondness for hippos waned a bit when I found out how vicious they are, which is why pandas are now at the top of my list. I don't think a panda would ever chase you and try to eat you...
